I'm Yeabsira Desalegn, a software engineer from Ethiopia. I primarily work on backend development and DevOps. Every now and then, I branch out into native desktop, mobile, and web applications.

I'm naturally curious about how things work, and I enjoy taking things apart, understanding them, and learning from the process. That curiosity is what led me into programming, and it continues to push me toward exploring new technologies and ideas.

Open source has been a big part of how I've learned and grown as an engineer. I enjoy learning from the work of others, and whenever I can, I like giving back by contributing to the projects and communities that have helped me along the way.

Outside the terminal, I'm usually still in the terminal. I'm a Linux enthusiast, and Fedora with Hyprland has become my home. I enjoy tweaking my system just as much as I enjoy building things.

I also spent a good amount of time doing AOSP device development. It started with wanting to get the most out of my own devices as a custom ROM user, but I quickly found myself drawn to the community. Before long, curiosity got the better of me, and I started contributing to and building ROMs myself. I'm taking a bit of a break from it these days, but it's still something I enjoy and plan to come back to.

I enjoy working on projects with long-term maintainability in mind. I usually think beyond what's needed right now and try to leave room for future improvements. I also care a lot about reliability because I like building things that just work, even if it takes extra effort behind the scenes to get there.
